Dr. Amy Richardson-practice manager and veterinarian-Newbury Animal Hospital-Newbury, MA

Dr. Amy Richardson:

Dr. Amy Richardson took a winding path to veterinary medicine. Following an early career in Corporate Finance and Culinary Arts, she decided to follow her original childhood goal of becoming a veterinarian.

Prior to receiving her Doctorate at Tufts University in 2004, she volunteered in a small animal veterinary practice as well as with the penguins at the New England Aquarium. She also worked with the wolves at Wolf Hollow and traveled with a large animal veterinarian. The small animals grabbed her heart and she joined Newbury Animal Hospital as an Associate in 2011 where she has thoroughly enjoyed developing relationships with her clients and patients.

Dr. Richardson loves to continually learn and develop her professional skills in order to best serve her patients. Particular areas of interest include surgery, ultrasound, pain management and geriatric care.

In the past year, Dr. Richardson traveled to Alaska to be a Veterinarian for the Iditarod.  She fell in love with the Alaskan culture and sled dogs, and will return for the 2018 race. In the coming year she plans to volunteer for the World Vet Organization to do relief work in Central America.

Dr. Richardson lives in West Newbury with her husband, two children (Nathaniel and Madeleine) and two dogs Finn and Siggy. In her free time she loves to read, garden, hike, travel and cook.

Dr. Stephanie Solinger:

Dr. Stephanie Solinger joined Newbury Animal Hospital as an Associate in 2007. She was born and raised in the Midwest, living in Illinois and Wisconsin before completing her undergraduate degree at Carleton College in Minnesota. She lived in the Carribean for a year prior to arriving on the East Coast. Dr. Solinger received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University in 2007.

Dr. Solinger’s professional interests include the care of dogs and cats as well as other small animals. She enjoys providing both preventative and problem based medicine to animals of all life stages and has been honored to share in her patients’ lives from infancy to their senior years. Dr. Solinger has special interests in both feline medicine as well as the care and rehabilitation of injured wildlife. She has a special affinity for squirrels, having raised and released several generations of injured and ill animals over the years.
